Fire crews start to quell inferno.

Crews are aiming to smother the fire with a foam blanket.

Crews fighting the ferocious blaze still raging at a Hertfordshire oil depot have put out fires in 10 of some 20 fuel tanks that were affected.

Meanwhile, a huge plume of smoke continues to billow from the site, spreading out across southern England.

Explosions and fire at the Buncefield depot, near Hemel Hempstead, early on Sunday injured 42 people.

Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott has told the Commons the government would provide support and assistance.

Oil Storage Blast do not emerge out of thin air!

Worries should be about the health implications of this disaster.

Oil disasters of this kind has been known to produce carcinogenic, mutagenic and teratogenic problems in human and animal health and what scares me is the scantiness of coverage in this area in the media and health officials. I'm sure numerous people have been affected and the last thing I want to find out is about the unborn baby being at risk due to this disaster.

  It's guarantee the very first explosion must have been huge because a British friend told me he heard it in Sunbury which is about 25 miles away... This is awful but I wonder if this is just and incident or sabotaged effect to the high prized protest! What if it had been a nuclear explosion. It is obvious that the fumes will be toxic to sensitive human being as children and elderly, and it may of course affect many UK citizens! Our planet is suffering with so much Toxins it's really getting worrisome!

With all said and done, I want to voice my gratitude. well done to the fire fighters for keeping the blaze well under control. 3 people, including 2 firemen, were killed by a recent tower block fire in Stevenage caused by a candle. The oil depot fire killed no one.

This Christmas please remember that candles in the home can kill. Don't light a death warrant. We should now give some thought to those for whom the hard work has just begun, the many ordinary workers who have to get their businesses up and running again.

They will be facing a huge job and working in unpleasant conditions.

Ignore the negative comments, these are brought about by bad press and ill-informed people. What we have achieved is a true reflection on why we are the best Fire Service in the world.
