He enjoys amalgamating classic, opera, pop, jazz, show and contemporary materials into a musical pot-pourri. By mixing all these elements, he is able to communicate the endless stream of thoughts occurring in my mind to others, to enable my listeners to gather the true "essence" of my being.
Mother 'watched toddler die in agony'

Wednesday, January 14 12:33 pm

A woman watched her two-year-old daughter deteriorate and die in severe pain after a four-week campaign of abuse, a court has heard. Skip related content

Little Sanam Navsarka suffered more than 100 injuries and had fractures to all her limbs when she died in May last year.

Zahbeena Navsarka and Subhan Anwar, both 21, from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, are charged with murdering the "vulnerable and defenceless" toddler.

The couple are accused of repeatedly assaulting Sanam over a month-long period or encouraging each other by standing by and doing nothing to save the little girl.

Continuing the prosecution's opening of the case at Bradford Crown Court, Julian Goose QC said: "Sanam died as a result of really serious injuries, deliberately inflicted upon her, over a period of up to four weeks before her death.

"It was not over a short period of time, it was not unexpected or unpredictable. It was over a long time as they both watched that two-year-old little girl in severe pain deteriorate until she died."

He added: "The defendants either inflicted that violence upon her together or one encouraged the other, standing by and doing nothing over all those weeks whilst she was being repeatedly assaulted and severely injured.

"The conduct of the defendants, together, when they saw her deteriorate was from a normal, happy child to one in severe pain, unable to walk and suffering regular fits."

The jury of six men and six women were told that the defendants left Sanam alone and dying in their home while they went to register with their GP on the day of her death.

The court also heard how tiny handprints and bloodstains were found inside cupboards at the home in Huddersfield and also at a former property in Batley, West Yorkshire.

Anwar, who is not Sanam's father, admitted to police after his arrest that he put the girl in the cupboard as a punishment and said Navsarka punished her in the same way.

When the couple were interviewed by police after Sanam's death on May 8, 2008, they blamed each other for the injuries Sanam had suffered and both claimed to be frightened of the other, Mr Goose said.

The court has heard how Sanam was found to have 107 separate external injuries when she died.

Both her thigh bones had been fractured, causing fatty deposits to enter her bloodstream and resulting in her death, and she had fractures to both her arms.

The couple claimed Sanam had stopped breathing after they left her alone in the bath for ten minutes and returned to find her under the water.

But a pathologist who conducted a post-mortem examination on Sanam ruled out drowning as a cause of death.

Both deny murder and Anwar also denies a charge of causing or allowing the death of a child.

Navsarka has admitted an alternative charge of failing to protect Sanam.

Controversially, I made this video for my friend Nelly’s debate and her mysterious challenge about one of her painting she did for a smiling face of a singer from Montreal (Amanda Mabro) that was banned on a flimsier notion due to a capricious and mean reaction of this questionable and believed diva.

Nat King Cole’s song; Mona Lisa is an Academy Award-winning song written by Ray Evans and Jay Livingston for the Paramount Pictures film Captain Carey, U.S.A. (1950).

The soundtrack version by Nat King Cole spent 8 weeks as number 1 in the Billboard chart in the USA in 1950.

Also, Cole's version of the song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1992. In 1987, it was used as the theme of the British film Mona Lisa. An unaccredited version of Mona Lisa plays in the background of one scene in Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window (1954).

The famous painting: Mona Lisa (also known as La Giaconda) is a 16th century portrait painted in oil on a poplar panel by Leonardo da Vinci throughout the Italian Renaissance. The work is owned by the French government and hangs in the Musée du Louvre in Paris, France with the title Portrait of Lisa Gherardini, wife of Francesco del Giaconda.

The painting is a half-length portrait and depicts a woman whose expression is often described as enigmatic.

The ambiguity of the sitter's expression, the monumentality of the half-figure composition, and the subtle modelling of forms and atmospheric illusion were novel qualities that have contributed to the painting's continuing fascination. Few other works of art have been subject to as much scrutiny, study, mythologising and parody.

Hitler wax figure unveiled in Berlin amid criticism

By Madeline Chambers

BERLIN (Reuters) - Berlin's new waxwork museum on Thursday unveiled a figure of a glum-looking Adolf Hitler in a mock bunker during the last days of his life, an exhibit that has been criticised as in bad taste.

The row over the figure overshadowed the media preview of the new branch of Madame Tussauds which opens its doors to the public on Saturday.

Critics say it is inappropriate to display the Nazi dictator, who started World War Two and ordered the extermination of Europe's Jews, in a museum alongside celebrities, pop stars, world statesmen and sporting heroes.

"Of course the figure will arouse interest but we hope people will realise he is part of an exhibition with a range of attractions," said Meike Schulze, head of Midway Attractions in Germany which is responsible for Madame Tussauds here.

"It will be a shame if he dominates everything."

Her plea appeared to be falling on deaf ears.

About 200 reporters and cameramen all but ignored U.S. President George W. Bush, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, plus the likes of Beethoven, Albert Einstein, Madonna and Brad Pitt.

Instead, they pushed and jostled to peer into a dark corner where the unmistakable figure of Hitler is seated.

Dressed in a grey suit, Hitler gazes downwards with a despondent stare, his arm outstretched on a large wooden table with map of Europe on the wall of his gloomy bunker.

"We wanted to show him like this, in the last days of his life," said Schulze who defended the decision to put him on show, saying market research had shown there was demand for his inclusion, as long his portrayal was sensitive.

About 25 workers spent about four months on the waxwork, using more than 2,000 pictures and pieces of archive material and also guided by a model of the "Fuehrer" in the London branch of Madame Tussauds where he is standing upright.

It is illegal in Germany to show Nazi symbols and art glorifying Hitler and the exhibit is cordoned off to stop visitors posing with him.

Unobtrusive signs ask visitors to refrain from taking photos or posing with Hitler "out of respect for the millions of people who died during World War Two". Camera surveillance and museum officials will stop inappropriate behaviour, said Schulze.

Institutions such as the foundation for Germany's central Holocaust memorial site have condemned the idea of the exhibit as tasteless, saying it had been included to generate business.

However, the wax figure is the latest in a gradual breaking down of taboos about Hitler in Germany more than 60 after the end of the war and the Holocaust in which some 6 million Jews were killed.

The 2004 film "Downfall" provoked controversy as it portrayed the leader in a human light during the last days of his life and last year a satire about Hitler by Swiss-born Jewish director Dani Levy was released in Germany.

Wildlife officer saves bear from drowning

A wildlife officer put his own life on the line in Florida when he leapt into the sea to save a huge black bear from drowning. The startled 26 stone beast ran into the water at Alligator Point after being shot with a tranquilliser dart, reports Sky News.

Adam Warwick, realising the bear was in danger, stripped to his underwear, dived into the sea and put his arm round the animal's neck to keep its head above water.

The fearsome but drowsy creature allowed itself to be rescued and Warwick escaped with a few scratches.

The bear had wandered into a residential area looking for food before being shot with the tranquilliser by a wildlife marksman. Mr Warwick, 29, who works for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, said: "I was pretty surprised at how big he was.

"I had no idea what I was getting myself into. It was a spur of the minute decision.

"I was swimming toward the bear, trying to prevent him from swimming into deeper water. He was losing function in his arms and legs and was obviously in distress."

Once he had dragged the bear ashore, the beast was loaded on to a truck by a JCB.

It was then taken to a forest near Lake City and released. It had apparently been left unharmed by its near-death experience.

SAN FRANCISCO—Serenaded by a gay men's chorus, showered with rose petals and toasted with champagne, hundreds of same-sex couples got married across California on Tuesday.

Couples rushed to county clerks' offices to obtain marriage licenses and exchange vows on the first full day that same-sex marriage became legal in the state.

Among them was actor George Takei, who played Sulu on the original "Star Trek." He and his partner of 21 years, Brad Altman, obtained one of the new gender-neutral marriage licenses, with the words "Party A" and "Party B" instead of "bride" and "groom," at the West Hollywood City Hall.

Open to all: Unlike Massachusetts, the only other state to legalize gay marriage, California has no residency requirement for a license.

It's extremely heart-rending, as we may make jokes on the worst world leader this planet has ever seen, and the most dreaded life time in history since WWII and more than a hundred times I've considered to think about what the past five year's historical unconventional in the Middle East would have been if the Iraq invasion had not occurred... although this part of the world has been building up revenge on westerners for some time for as many decades since the attack in Munich during the Olympic games in 1972 - however a more diplomatic 'world leader' would just have been better and would have lessen the current situation and disaster by a hundred times.

Of course let us not forget that Saddam Hussein had nothing to do with September 11 whatsoever.

Bush distracted the US troops’ energy from the real murderers for a purpose 'WE' people of the world will only find out many decades later - I might not be on the planet anymore but I hope you will all find out about in your lifetime! He disgraced the world and America!!

Shame on us all, and every one of the rest of the world leaders for not stopping this!!!

Warning, you won't find any "Jihad Sympathizers" here - If you want to find Islamist instigator you might find them as soon as you would head on the road to Washington DC, USA - and knock on their doors over there!!! So take your car and drive on over there...

Bush surprised cabinet secretaries, diplomatic officials and journalists at the annual Gridiron dinner by taking the stage and giving the first public singing performance of his eight-year presidency, which ends in January 2009.

To the tune of country song "Green Green Grass of Home", Bush sang of longing for his ranch in Crawford, Texas and his dog Barney.

"And there to meet me is my mama and my papa, down the lane I look and here comes Barney, heart of gold and breath like honey; it's good to touch the brown brown grass of home."

Bush, singing only slightly off key, then turned to some of the long-term members of his team including Cheney and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

"For there's Condi and Dick, my old compadre, talking to me about some oil rich Saudi, but soon I'll touch the brown brown grass of home."

"That old White house is behind me, I am once again carefree, don't have to worry 'bout a crisis in Pyongyang. Down the lane I look, Dick Cheney is strolling with documents he'd been withholding, it's good to touch the brown brown grass of home."

Bush told the audience, which erupted in applause and gave him a standing ovation, that they had witnessed "the first and final performance of George Bush and the Busharoos".

Paralyzed man moves computer cursor through thought

Wed Jul 12, 2006 1:46 PM ET
By Patricia Reaney

LONDON (Reuters) - A Paralyzed man using a new brain sensor has been able to move a computer cursor, open e-mail and control a robotic device simply by thinking about doing it, a team of scientists said on Wednesday.

They believe the BrainGate sensor, which involves implanting electrodes in the brain, could offer new hope to people Paralyzed by injuries or illnesses.

"This is the first step in an ongoing clinical trial of a device that is encouraging for its potential to help people with paralysis," Dr Leigh Hochberg, of Massachusetts General Hospital, said in an interview.

The 25-year-old man who suffered paralysis of all four limbs three years earlier completed tasks such moving a cursor on a screen and controlling a robotic arm.

He is the first of four patients with spinal cord injuries, muscular dystrophy, stroke or motor neurone disease testing the brain-to-movement system developed by Cyberkinetics Neurotechnology Systems Inc in Massachusetts.

"This is the dawn of major neurotechnology where the ability to take signals out of the brain has taken a big step forward. We have the ability to put signals into the brain but getting signals out is a real challenge. I think this represents a landmark event," said Professor John Donoghue of Brown University in Rhode Island and the chief scientific officer of Cyberkinetics.

The scientists implanted a tiny silicon chip with 100 electrodes into an area of the brain responsible for movement. The activity of the cells was recorded and sent to a computer which translated the commands and enabled the patient to move and control the external device.

"This part of the brain, the motor cortex, which usually sends its signals down the spinal cord and out to the limbs to control movement, can still be used by this participant to control an external device, even after years had gone by since his spinal cord injury," added Hochberg, a co-author of the study published in the journal Nature.

Although it is not the first time brain activity has been used to control a cursor, Stephen Scott of Queen's University in Ontario, Canada said it advances the technology.

"This research suggests that implanted prosthetics are a viable approach for assisting severely impaired individuals to communicate and interact with the environment," he said in a commentary in the journal.

In a separate study, researchers from Stanford University Schools of Medicine and Engineering described a faster way to process signals from the brain to control a computer or prosthetic device.

"Our research is starting to show that, from a performance perspective, this type of prosthetic system is clinically viable," Stephen Ryu, an assistant professor of neurosurgery at Stanford, said in as statement.

Paralyzed man moves computer cursor through thought

Her family lost a kin friend in one of the twin towers. Her sister lost one of her business-partners on the plane in Philadelphia. At the time, seven years prior she lost one her sisters to Leukemia, prior to this she lost her brother to a car accident, and a father died right after from grief when she was still a teen.

I tried to support her in all of her grievances. I tried to make her laugh with silly odd-topics. Good hearted as she is she accepted me like one of her family members as we discussed through the internet. With all of these, she still has a sense of humour I read it in her poetry and responses in her forum and now here as she moved to these blogs. I’m always invited to her family events but sadly I couldn’t make it to a lot of them. I have a full time job and it’s not easy to leave.

She is a very beautiful and a very nice European living in Canada with a heart. She is the proud wife of an engineer, a mother of four, (two step-girls and two toddlers of her own.) Keep in mind how deviously they used to tell us how bad the Soviets were? Gulags in Siberia etc? We got over 40 years of that kind of propaganda. Now they're doing it themselves. "Freedom and democracy" they call it. America advocates Human Rights to the world, at the same time as holding prisoners without trial in Quantanamo bay. What type of Human rights is this? Quite bewildering!

MP Tony Blair's elite and the Bush administration destroyed not only innocent human beings by constantly bombing them but also create divisions among nations to achieve their goal is rather wicked. Galloway: Blair's death would be justified

By DAVID STRINGER, Associated Press Writer
AP - Fri May 26, 9:39 AM ET

Maverick British politician George Galloway has claimed it would be "morally justified" for an assassin to target Prime Minister Tony Blair, but he said he was not advocating an attempt, according to a magazine interview published Friday.

Galloway was quoted as saying an attack on Blair that caused no other casualties would be a justifiable response to Britain's support for the 2003 U.S.-led invasion of Iraq.

abcnews.go.com/International

"It would be entirely logical and explicable — and morally equivalent to ordering the deaths of thousands of innocent people in Iraq as Blair did," the monthly GQ magazine quoted Galloway as saying.

However, if he knew anyone was planning such an attack, Galloway added, he would tell police.

Galloway, currently in Cuba, verified the accuracy of his comments in a statement posted on the Web site of his political party, Respect.

"I think it's best that we say nothing. We may say nothing, but we think plenty," Blair's official spokesman, who speaks only on condition of anonymity, said by telephone from Washington, where Blair met with President Bush.

Galloway was kicked out of Blair's Labour Party in October 2003 for urging British soldiers not to fight in Iraq.

He later founded his party and won a new seat in the House of Commons in 2005, representing an east London suburb with a large Muslim population. During his campaign, he denounced the invasion of Iraq and called for the withdrawal of coalition troops.

Galloway defended his comments in a statement on his Web site and said it would be possible for those in Iraq who had "seen their country invaded" to construct a moral justification for the killing of Blair

"But I've made my position clear. I would not support anyone seeking to assassinate the prime minister," he said.

Menzies Campbell, the leader of Britain's third-largest political party, the opposition Liberal Democrats, said Galloway's comments risked "providing encouragement" to a would-be assassin.

"No politician, ever, by act, word, or deed, either expressly or by implication, should give any support to the notion that violence might be justified," Campbell said in a statement.

Galloway spent three weeks last year starring on the reality TV show "Celebrity Big Brother" and was ridiculed for scenes in which he lapped up imaginary milk and purred like a cat.

His decision to participate in the program — away from his duties in Parliament and alongside a topless model, an androgynous pop singer and former NBA star Dennis Rodman — resulted in criticism from constituents and lawmakers.

In his magazine interview, Galloway claimed to been the best fighter at his school, and said he would like to go a few rounds with both Blair and Bush.

"I'd take them both at once," Galloway said.

"That's what really upsets me. They are the sort of men who are ready to fight to the last drop of other people's blood. They couldn't personally punch their way out of a paper bag. They send other mothers' sons to their death, and I find them both deeply repugnant," he said.

Last May, Galloway called a congressional subcommittee "the mother of all smoke screens," after he traveled to the United States to deny accusations he had profited from the U.N. oil-for-food program.

In 1911, Marie Curie's nomination to the French Academy of Sciences, having already won one Nobel Prize, is nevertheless voted down by the Academy's all-male membership. She went on to win a second Nobel Prize.

Madame Curie shared with her husband, Pierre Curie, the honors for discovering two radioactive elements, radium and polonium. The discovery of these elements laid the foundation for future discoveries in nuclear physics and chemistry.

Marie Sklodowska was born on November 7, 1867, in Warsaw, Poland. Her early years were strongly influenced by her parents, who were both educators. She later joined with Faculty of Sciences at the Sorbonne. This made Marie the first woman to teach at the university level in France.

The visit was part of a six-week tour of the United States that earlier included a reception at the White House where President Harding presented a gift of a gram of radium that had cost $100,000. The radium was produced by the Standard Chemical Company. For much of her visit to Western Pennsylvania, Mme. Curie was not in the best of health, which resulted in postponements and curtailments of scheduled activities. However, she seemed energized during her visits to the Standard Chemical plants in Pittsburgh and Canonsburg.

2 Teens Arrested in Alleged Massacre Plot.

03-18-2004 -

Two teenagers were in custody for allegedly plotting to carry out a Columbine-like massacre at their former high school next Valentine's Day, authorities said.

The former Quartz Hill High students, whose names were not released, were arrested Thursday after searches of their homes turned up knives, ammunition, a gas mask and bomb-making instructions downloaded from the Internet, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

They were being held at the Sylmar Juvenile Detention Center for investigation of making terrorist threats, Brown said.

"I've been working with schools for eight years, and we have hoaxes all the time, but this is the first time that I thought, 'Oops, this one could really happen,'" sheriff's Sgt. Darrel Brown said Friday. "You could see they were preparing meticulously, taking things step by step."

The boys, ages 17 and 15, had been transferred from Quartz Hill to other schools for disciplinary reasons, authorities said.

Brown said an investigation began Wednesday when a student contacted the school's vice principal and said the former classmates were planning a "Columbine-style assault" on the campus. The student said she had learned about it second-hand.

The boys told investigators that they planned to kill Quartz Hill students who had made fun of them, using guns and homemade explosives, then commit suicide, Brown said.

On Friday, deputies at the sheriff's station in Lancaster displayed a page from the 15-year-old's notebook with the scrawled message: "When I'm God, everyone dies."

The notebook was accompanied by a three-ring binder with pictures of Columbine High School killers Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh and murderer Charles Manson.

Deputies said they found a black trench coat at one boy's home, possibly to be used in imitation of the similarly-dressed Columbine killers, and the 15-year-old boy had carved the word "hate" into his forearm, authorities alleged.

Body image, not menopause, causes lack of desire

Women who lose their sexual desire as they age may not be the victims of hormonal changes but may be reacting to their own body image, U.S. researchers reported on Wednesday.

The more a woman perceived herself as less attractive, the more likely she was to report a decline in sexual desire or activity over the past 10 years, the team at Penn State University found.

"Our results suggest that 'treatment,' via medication, of menopausal effects for this purpose seems unwarranted in light of the findings that menopausal status did not have a significant impact on the sexual responding of the women in this study," said Dr. Patricia Barthalow Koch, an associate professor of biobehavioral health and women's studies who led the study.

Koch's team studied 307 mostly white, heterosexual women aged 35 to 55.

About 21 percent said they were pre-menopausal, 63.5 percent said they were undergoing some menopausal changes and 15.5 percent were past menopause.

Nearly 21 percent of the women could not think of even one attractive feature and reported an overall sense of dissatisfaction with their bodies, Koch's team reported in The Journal of Sex Research. The women especially disliked their stomachs or abdomens, hips, thighs and legs.

Two-thirds of the women said they either desired sex less than 10 years before or that they had sex less often.

But the women reported that when they did have sex, there was a high level of enjoyment, with 72 percent saying they were physically and emotionally satisfied in their sexual relationships.

"There has been a dearth of research examining the relationship between body image and women's sexual response. These new results support a link between body image and sexual responding that needs further study," Koch said.

Friday October 7, 2005

A senior White House official has denied that the US president, George Bush, said God ordered him to invade Afghanistan and Iraq.

A spokesman for Mr Bush, Scott McClellan, said the claims, to be broadcast in a TV documentary later this month, were "absurd".

In the BBC film, a former Palestinian foreign minister, Nabil Shaath, says that Mr Bush told a Palestinian delegation in 2003 that God spoke to him and said: "George, go and fight these terrorists in Afghanistan" and also "George, go and end the tyranny in Iraq".

During a White House press briefing, Mr McClellan said: "No, that's absurd. He's never made such comments."

Mr McClellan admitted he was not at the Israeli-Palestinian summit at the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh in June 2003 when Mr Bush supposedly revealed the extent of his religious fervour.

However, he said he had checked into the claims and "I stand by what I just said".

Asked if Mr Bush had ever mentioned that God had ordered him into Afghanistan and Iraq, Mr McClellan said: "No, and I've been in many meetings with him and never heard such a thing."

The claims are due to be broadcast in a three-part BBC documentary which analyses attempts to bring peace to the Middle East.

Mr Shaath, the Palestinian foreign minister in 2003, claims Mr Bush told him and other delegates that he was spoken to by God over his plans for war.

He told the film-makers: "President Bush said to all of us: 'I'm driven with a mission from God. God would tell me, George, go and fight those terrorists in Afghanistan. And I did, and then God would tell me, George, go and end the tyranny in Iraq... And I did.

"'And now, again, I feel God's words coming to me, Go get the Palestinians their state and get the Israelis their security, and get peace in the Middle East. And by God I'm gonna do it.'"

The Palestinian leader, Mahmoud Abbas, who attended the June 2003 meeting as well, also appears on the documentary series to recount how Mr Bush told him: "I have a moral and religious obligation. So I will get you a Palestinian state."

Mr Bush, who became a born-again Christian at 40, is one of the most overtly religious leaders to occupy the White House, a fact that brings him much support in middle America.

"History is littered with examples of people doing the most bizarre and sometimes wicked things on this basis," said Andrew Blackstock, director of the British-based Christian Socialist Movement. "If Bush really wants to obey God during his time as president he should start with what is blindingly obvious from the Bible rather than perceived supernatural messages.

"That would lead him to the rather less glamorous business of prioritising the needs of the poor, the downtrodden and the marginalised in his own country and abroad.

"When we see more policies reflecting that, it might be easier to believe he has God on his side. And more likely that God might speak to him."

The TV series, which starts on Monday, charts recent attempts to bring peace to the Middle East, from the former US president Bill Clinton's peace talks in 1999-2000, to Israel's withdrawal from the Gaza Strip this year. It seeks to uncover what happened behind closed doors by speaking to presidents and prime ministers, along with their generals and ministers, the BBC said.
